4 Week-Carving Clay
Carving clay is a creative and delightful process, and we're excited to share it with you! In this class, you'll learn the subtractive (deduction) method of clay carving, which involves removing material from a solid block or slab of clay to reveal forms, patterns, and designs.
We’ll begin by creating basic clay forms that will serve as the foundation for carving projects. Each week, you'll be introduced to a different carving technique and have the opportunity to create a variety of functional and decorative pieces, some of the options could be:
A carved tea bowl
A paint palette or snack tray
A planter featuring carved designs
A sgraffito-decorated piece
You'll also experience the fun of designing and carving your own personal stamp to add a signature mark to your work.
During the final week, you'll learn glazing techniques and finish the pieces you've created throughout the course.
Whether you're new to clay or looking to grow your skills, this class offers a fun and exciting introduction to the art of carving clay.
